The physics of light-matter interactions within materials underlie the optical phenomena seen in many everyday situations.
Our group is fundamentally concerned with non-linear light-matter interactions,
in particular our research is driven towards understanding and applying these interactions
to fabricating novel devices.
We work closely with other research groups at Heriot-Watt University, namely II-VI Semiconductor Growth, NanoOptics and UltraFast Optics groups. This leads to the sharing of state of the art resources and furthers our collective capabilities.
Currently the NonLinear Optics group runs three state of the art laboratories, based in the David Brewster Building. Click here to view.
